NO MAN CAN WALK OUT ON HIS OWN STORY

In Releases on 2011/03/24 at 9:47 pm

Springtime is here, but the weather seems bittersweet.

Despite the tempest of difficult and unsettling events that’s been making its way around the globe throughout these past few weeks, I’ve been trying my best to uphold a stoic outlook towards the future — which seems to have carried over into my musical projects this month. :)

Among the results is an unrelenting outpour of a monthly track that’s somehow kept in check only by its chill vibes and washy pedal-tones . . . making for a paradoxically docile glitchstorm of sorts. Only time will tell whether such a thing might one day inspire an impact in the world, or simply bring about a terrible headache epidemic :< harr; but without further ado, here it is:

MARCH – “Guardian Rain“

Oh, and the message behind it is simply a quote (see ^title of post) that I was struck profoundly by while watching a movie with my gf earlier in the month. It was like a new perspective of inspiration — because while it’s true that we all exist with very different “plotlines” and circumstances behind our life stories, it’s also just as true that no matter what, we all have to be there to see them through to the end. So, might as well make it something worthwhile, right. . ? ;)

“We are the authors of ourselves, co-authoring a gigantic Dostoyevsky novel starring clowns.”

TWO = 1

In Releases on 2011/02/28 at 2:51 pm

Without one, there could be no other.

From Plato’s musings to the Chinese Yin-Yang… there are many symbols (and even more subtle “reminders”) towards the duality phenomenon all around us in everyday life, but the real essence of all of them is simply realizing how important our unity is…

FEBRUARY – “Duality Danse“

It’s been a pretty hectic month, so I won’t ramble much more; suffice to say — as always, I hope the track finds you well! The numerous melodies are slow-building, and the interchange between [two] distinct sections is abrupt at first, but progressively smooths out as they find their balance.

Cheers. :)

THE YEAR IT HAPPENS

In Releases on 2011/01/28 at 4:36 am

JANUARY – “Meditation Medication“

This month’s track is a bit grit/electro-glitch-inspired, though hopefully in a way that doesn’t throw anyone out of their element for too long. :) Its meaning should line up more and more congruently with the overall theme as the monthly-tracks project approaches its conclusion… but for now, I just wanted to say one more thanks for all the feedback from commenters/listeners in the fine-tuning process — thanks to you guys, the long path still ahead of me has never seemed more manageable! You’re awesome.

Alas, despite the quirky name, the vision behind this track is basically a fly-by of the Earth as it’s “waking up,” with the camera rapidly following the moving sun-line as it brings Dawn all across the globe (even for you southern-hemisphere folks . . . who are upside down right now, I swear ;)).

Hope you like it // til next time.

1-1-11

In Releases on 2011/01/01 at 5:52 pm

Ah, how the time flies . . .
As of today, not just a new year, but a whole new decade is upon us.

In light of this meaningful transition, I’ve decided to dedicate my final monthly work of 2010 to this very special event. Entitled “Solstice“ this December release takes a brief departure from some of the conventional dance-inspired outings of previous months and steers once again towards a melodic-soundtrack aesthetic. Its ambient elements are meant to convey a chilly winter farewell to this epic past year (and very eventful past decade) while the steady driving 3/4 beat represents the foundation for moving slowly forward and beginning anew.

DECEMBER – “Solstice“

After all, even on New Year’s Eve, time only slows down for a brief moment as the countdown approaches Zero . . . and just as quickly, life continues ever forward. But as that calendar rewinds into another 365.25-day cycle, nothing says that we can’t stop our inner hourglass for just a moment more, if only to regroup and set our sights for the upcoming year as another opportunity for achievement, betterment and progress.

Thanks for staying tuned, folks — let’s make this decade the best one yet.

Happy 2011… :)

NOVEMBER HOROSCORP

In Releases on 2010/11/23 at 4:04 am

Well, ladies and gents. . . I’m happy to announce that even with all these future-planning/responsibilities stresses consuming my daily free time, I was still able to put in enough hours to finally polish up the November One-A-Month track. Definitely cutting it close this time, just a week before the end of the month — but seeing as this next week is going to be pretty packed with work / Thanksgiving festivities / reuniting with old friends(!) and all kinds of other random stuff, that’s probably a good thing.

NOVEMBER – “Scorpius“

Now then, this particular track has a very special and personal meaning to me — its inspiration comes from my birth-sign, Scorpio. “Scorpius” is just a nerdier term for it (hehe), and even though I’m not all too crazy about astrology, just being an open/spiritual-minded person at heart, I’ve seen enough awesomeness in my day to at least warrant a curious nod of humility towards it here and there. After all, this whole Universe place, with all of its grand schemery of things, is. . . kinda big. And comparatively, I’m just a bit smaller. Ehh, even if there were TWO of Me standing on my shoulders, the universe. . . would still win. So, I figure why not? ;)

Hehe cheers, all — and happy Thanksgiving!

BETTERMENT

In Releases on 2010/11/15 at 5:16 am

This past October has in many ways been a defining point in my life — in everything from self-actualization (learning how to take less for granted and about 9001 other things), right down to my development as a musician. Meanwhile, several new live-performance avenues have opened up (improv. jazz-piano gigs as well as electronica networking connections), and my career-interests / life-goals have branched out considerably. Pretty intense.

Needless to say, this has been a busy time, heh . . . though not quite busy enough to keep the monthly track from happening. ;)

In fact, as a result of these developments, my music-production outlook has undergone a pronounced transformation (tranceformation? ;P) – maybe ever further towards just doin my own thing in regards to previously-defined genres, maybe not… but nevertheless, this time it’s driven by a clearer sense of understanding about my unique path within this art-form as a whole . . . even if just slightly more so.

OCTOBER – “Powers of Ten“

This month’s track, “Powers of Ten” represents this fairly noticeably, both in its name (dealing with transcending previous boundaries) and its production approach. In many ways, it’s a self-contained culmination of all my previous experiences — from the opening pads right down to the finishing rhythm-glitches.

I hope you enjoy listening — and as always, thanks to everyone for your support!

Namaste. :)
